Just 3 Months After Launching, This Indian Grocery Startup Has Raised Over ₹9 Crore
Gurugram-based Solgram secures funding from DSG Consumer Partners and Saama Capital to expand its premium grocery business.
India already has plenty of grocery delivery apps. So why would investors back another one?
For Gurugram-based Solgram, the answer lies in what happens to groceries before they reach your doorstep.
Founded by Shashank Shekhar Sharma, the startup has raised over $1 million in pre-seed funding, less than three months after launching its operations.
The investment was led by DSG Consumer Partners and Saama Capital, with hospitality entrepreneur Kapil Chopra also participating.
Unlike platforms built primarily around delivery speed, Solgram is focusing on freshness and quality.
Its business uses a temperature-controlled supply chain to manage products such as fruits, vegetables, dairy, meat and seafood from sourcing through delivery.
The company also offers curated grocery products and a health-focused shopping category called Mindful Mode.
With the fresh funding, Solgram plans to strengthen its cold-chain infrastructure, improve its technology and expand across the National Capital Region before entering other major cities.
But the startup faces an interesting challenge.
In a market where customers have become accustomed to groceries arriving in minutes, can better product quality become a stronger reason to choose one platform over another?
Solgram is betting that freshness could matter just as much as speed.
